Run, Fender, Run!

Fender ran away this morning when Emma decided to join John and I waiting for the bus. She opened the door and Fendy zipped out the door. Six months ago I wouldn't have been heartbroken if she had never come home, but over the summer I became quite fond of my dog. We have had her for two and half years and you would have thought that I would have grown more attached to her before now, but I guess that I just didn't appreciate the companionship and love she has for me and our entire family.

After the bus came, Emma and I hopped in the van (Emma sin seatbelt) and drove down the street in our neighborhood until we saw Fender. As soon as she saw the van she came running. What could be better than a car ride? She hopped in the open door and jumped right into the front seat where she stuck her head out the window and enjoyed the fresh morning air blowing in her face on the ride home. What a dog! She is probably in my bed curled up under my nice clean sheets tired form her morning run. I really am glad that I found my dog!

Reminds me of one of my all-time favorite movie quotes:
"Whoa whoa whoa, Miss Lippy. The part of the story I don't like is that the little boy gave up looking for Happy [his dog] after an hour. He didn't put posters up or anything, he just sat on the porch like a goon and waited. That little boy's gotta think 'You got a pet. You got a responsibility.' If your dog is lost you don't look for an hour then call it quits. You get your !** out there and you find that *&#^*)* dog."
-Billy Madison-
I am glad to see you were able to share this important lesson with your children.
